8,601 COVID-19 cases reported in Việt Nam on Thursday

The capital city of Hà Nội recorded 2,738 COVID-19 infections on Thursday, as Việt Nam posted a daily rise of 8,601 cases.

HÀ NỘI — The capital city of Hà Nội recorded 2,738 COVID-19 infections on Thursday, as Việt Nam posted a daily rise of 8,601 cases.

The country saw its daily case count drop under 10,000 for the second straight day. 

The number of COVID-19 related fatalities reported was 286, with data recorded from January 31 to February 3.

The number of total transmissions since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,304,095, of which 2,297,016 came in the fourth wave that started in late April 2021.

Only 26 of the new cases were imported, and the remaining domestic. 

A total of 5,002 new transmissions were detected in the community.

Behind Hà Nội, Thanh Hóa recorded 463 cases and Quảng Nam recorded 356 cases.

The remaining infections were detected in Hải Dương (326), Phú Thọ (275), Vĩnh Phúc (257), Đắk Lắk (254), Bình Định (230), Hòa Bình (212), Lâm Đồng (208), Thái Bình (202), Hưng Yên (184), Nghệ An (179), Nam Định (160), Hải Phòng (154), Bắc Ninh (144), Bình Phước (137), Hà Nam (137), Bắc Giang (136), Hồ Chí Minh City (129), Lạng Sơn (114), Lào Cai (103), Yên Bái (102), Thừa Thiên Huế (99), Quảng Ninh (90), Thái Nguyên (86), Quảng Bình (79), Hà Giang (78), Cà Mau (70), Khánh Hòa (69), Bến Tre (62), Sơn La (62), Tây Ninh (57), Quảng Ngãi (56), Điện Biên (55), Ninh Bình (51), Tuyên Quang (50), Gia Lai (45), Quảng Trị (39), Bình Thuận (27), Cao Bằng (27), Kon Tum (25), Trà Vinh (25), Vĩnh Long (25), Hậu Giang (24), Kiên Giang (23), Phú Yên (23), Bạc Liêu (23), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (20), Đắk Nông (18), Bình Dương (17), Long An (15), Đồng Tháp (12), Lai Châu (8 ), Cần Thơ (7), Đồng Nai (6) and Tiền Giang (2).

Việt Nam’s COVID death toll is now 38,063, about 1.7 per cent of total infections.

There are currently 2,889 COVID-19 patients nationwide in a serious condition, with 396 requiring invasive ventilation and 14 on life support.

A further 25,904 patients were given the all-clear on Thursday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,093,947. 

77,258 doses of vaccine were administered nationwide today.

Almost 75 million people in Việt Nam have now been fully inoculated; while around 79 million people have received at least one dose of vaccine.
