HÀ NỘI – Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoàng Xuân Chiến highlighted the reinforced land border cooperation between Việt Nam and China while receiving Counsellor for police affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Việt Nam Wang Ben in Hà Nội on May 29.

Chiến, a member of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, emphasised that on the basis of the two countries’ traditional friendship and political trust, defence cooperation remains an important pillar of bilateral relations and has been carried out fruitfully and substantively.

Land border cooperation has been reinforced, including in managing and protecting the borderline, opening and upgrading border gates, and promoting tourism and trade ties. Exchanges, twinning, and joint patrols between the border guard forces and the units based along the shared border have been carried out frequently, helping build a Việt Nam - China land border of peace, stability, and development, he said.

The Deputy Minister asked the two sides to continue grasping and implementing the common perceptions reached by the countries’ leaders, along with the signed cooperation documents.

They should also further step up border friendship exchanges such as those between young officers and between Việt Nam’s border guard force and China’s National Immigration Administration, he added.

At the meeting, Wang expressed his hope to contribute more to the development of the countries’ relations, including between their border management and protection forces. - VNS
