HÀ NỘI — Professional photographer Nguyễn Việt Hùng, also known by his nickname Lekima, has just kicked off his transnational motorbike journey.
Hùng intends to travel through 30 provinces and cities, 28 of which are in coastal regions, over 45 days to take 3,000 photos for 10 collections on various topics and make three videos on the environment.
Departing from Hà Nội on August 5, he took along cameras for taking photos on water, a flycam and a mobile support kit to make videos.
He will open an exhibition after the trip.
“Today, I start my trans-Việt Nam solo trip,” he wrote on his Facebook page at his departure. “It’s difficult to describe my feelings. So many things are waiting for me ahead…Only when you realise that you have very little time left in your life do you have the motivation to start.”
Hùng added that he realised the environment in general and the maritime environment in particular in Việt Nam are being destroyed seriously at high speed.
“One of the reasons is that the awareness of the majority of people on the need for protecting the sea environment has remained limited,” he said.
Hùng, who is a professional photographer, is a founder and CEO of the Lighting Photography Academy. The academy has offered training classes to both amateur and professional photographers. He is also working as a lecturer at Nikon School in Việt Nam. — VNS
