HÀ NÔI — Friends of Vietnam Heritage will host a city walk to Quán Thánh Temple and the Ngũ Xã area on Saturday from 9am to 12.15pm.

Attendees will visit Quán Thánh Temple - a very important, old and almost purely Taoist temple - and its 3.7-tonne 350-year-old bronze statue of Trấn Vũ, Hà Nội’s Protector of the North.

The group will then walk along Trấn Vũ Street, around Trúc Bạch Lake, learn some history of the lake and surrounding area, and walk to Châu Long Pagoda. The walk will continue to Ngũ Xã island at the east end of the lake, where walkers will visit Thần Quang Pagoda and Ngũ Xã Communal House to learn about the history of bronze casting, for which this area is famous.

The tour will also visit a bronze casting showroom.

Those who would like to eat lunch together after the tour, will walk back a short way to Ngũ Xã for some traditional phở cuốn. Lunch is not included in the tour.

Cost: VNĐ70,000. Limit: 12 people. To sign up for the tour, contact Stella at stellaciorra@hotmail.com. — VNS
