CÀ MAU — A replica of the Hà Nội’s iconic Flag Tower has been inaugurated in the southernmost province of Cà Mau on Tuesday as part of the Cà Mau Cape’s Week of Culture and Tourism 2019.

Attending the inauguration, which took place in the province’s Đất Mũi Commune, Ngọc Hiển District, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc said Cà Mau is the legendary land of many heroic people who made glorious deeds, contributing significantly to the country’s magnificent history.

“Visiting Cà Mau, people will have chance to learn about part of the country’s history through the splendid achievements created by Cà Mau people," said the PM.

"The historic spots include Vàm Lũng Wharf where is the end of the Hồ Chí Minh Sea Trail, the former Counterintelligence Mission Centre CM12 Hòn Đá Bạc, and the Hòn Khoai Island where is known for the upraising of teacher Phan Ngọc Hiển against the French in December 1940.”

Mentioning the Flag Tower, which is a gift of Hà Nội’s Party Committee, authority, and people for Cà Mau, the PM said that it is another symbol of the country’s unification and sovereignty.

He also said tourism has outstanding potential for Cà Mau as the province has many beautiful, natural landscapes and a rich and specific local culture. Therefore, the Week of Culture and Tourism in Cà Mau is not only an opportunity for the province to introduce and promote its image as a welcoming, proactive and potential land, but also will bring fresh ideas in tourism co-operation, thus to help the province to development further in future.

However, while developing tourism, the province should pay attention to preserving and promoting the value of the local natural mangrove forest which has been recognised as one of the world’s Ramsar site, at the same time to exploit effectively its advantages.

He said: “The friendly and radiant smile of a tourism ambassador can impress anyone, helping to promote the image of the land and country where he/she represents for. In the era of digital, when smart tourism day by day has proved its important role, the smile of every Cà Mau person which presents for their friendship and whole-heartedness characters, is an effective way to promote local tourism.”
