Southern Food Festival showcases hundreds of traditional dishes

HCM CITY — More than 350 dishes, sweet soups and beverages, traditional cakes and other specialities from the southern and central regions and the Central Highlands were on offer at the Southern Food Festival that wrapped up in HCM City yesterday.

The 9th edition of the show at Đầm Sen Park had 55 food stalls set up by renowned restaurants, hotels and food and beverage businesses such as Thuỷ Tạ Đầm Sen restaurant, Bình Quới Tourist Complex, Đồng Khánh Hotel, and the Arc En Ciel Hotel.

Some of the signature dishes at the event were bánh cuốn Tây Sơn (Tây Sơn-style rolled crepe), hủ tiếu Sa Đéc (Sa Đéc-style noodle soup), bún nước lèo Sóc Trăng (Sóc Trăng-style vermicelli noodle soup), lạp xưởng  (beef sausage), and grilled chicken.

There were a number of activities to entertain visitors, including art performances, fashion shows and a 3D laser water music show.

The annual event, organised by the HCM City Department of Tourism in co-ordination with the HCM City Tourism Association and Phú Thọ Tourist Service Company, aims to preserve and promote the country’s culinary culture and cuisine tourism. VNS
