HCM CITY— The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism set up a board yesterday to establish a Việt Nam Cuisine Culture Association in HCM City.
The board’s 16 members are scientists, researchers, cuisine experts, and executives from food- and culture-related businesses. It will bring together organisations and individuals to build Vietnamese cuisine culture into a national brand name, according to Nguyễn Quốc Kỳ, general director of Vietravel and designated head of the board.
"With international integration, cuisine plays a vital role in enhancing traditional culture values," Kỳ said.
The association will be responsible for introducing and promoting Vietnamese culture and history through traditional dishes and specialities and by developing restaurants that meet local and international standards. It will gather specialties and discover and conserve traditional values from around the country to promote abroad. It will also promote tourism. — VNS
