HÀ NỘI — Plans from the Ministry of Transport for groups of seaports, ports, wharves and water areas for the period 2021-30, with a vision to 2050, put the output of goods through Việt Nam’s seaports at about 1.2-1.4 billion tonnes.
The output containerised goods in TEU cargo is forecast to be about 46.3-54.34 million TEU by 2030.
Seaport groups No 1 and No 4 are expected to have the highest throughput of goods through 2030, about 321 - 383 million tonnes (seaport group No 1) and from 499-564 million tonnes (seaport group No 4).
The volume of goods does not include international container transhipment goods.
The ministry forecasts that the number of passengers through the seaport by 2030 will reach between 17-19 million, including international and domestic passengers.
The total planned land use demand by 2030 is about 33,800ha, including seaport development areas, Cần Giờ International Transit Port area and industrial and logistics parks attached to the port, of which the seaport is 17,300ha. The total demand for water surface use by 2030 is about 606,000ha, according to the plan.
It is expected that the investment capital needed for the seaport system by 2030 will be about VNĐ351.5 trillion, including investment capital for public maritime infrastructure of about VNĐ72.8 trillion and investment capital needed for ports of about VNĐ278.7 trillion, including only ports providing cargo loading and unloading services. — VNS
