HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will host Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in February at HCM City’s Nguyễn Du Culture & Sport Club.

The six-day event will have five categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

Fourteen teams, including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia, have registered to take part in the competition, which will be played in two stages: a group stage on round robin basis, and then the top two teams from each group will qualify for the final stage and play on a knockout basis.

In the knockout stage, there will be a draw after the last match of the group stage is over, the condition being that teams from the same group will not be drawn to meet in the first round.

Top-seed players such as Nguyễn Tiến Minh, Phạm Cao Cường (men’s), Vũ Thị Trang, Nguyễn Thùy Linh (women’s) and duo Đỗ Tuấn Đức-Phạm Như Thảo will compete in the event. — VNS
