Host Huy stopped in Vietnam Futures’ 1st round

HÀ NỘI — Huỳnh Minh Huy of Việt Nam failed to make his second round match at the Vietnam F1 Men’s Futures yesterday in Bình Dương Province.

Huy was defeated 0-6, 0-6 by Antoine Escoffier of France who is seeded No 2 here.

In other matches, No 7 Gengo Kikuchi of Japan won 6-3, 6-4 over Indian Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash; Japanese Jumpei Yamasaki beat Thai Congsup Congcar 6-3, 7-5; and No 3 Kento Takeuchi trounced Hiromasa Oku 6-2, 6-2 in an all-Japanese match.

The first round continues today with Việt Nam representative Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên versus No 5 seed Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia.

Three pairs of the hosts also start their journey today in the doubles event.

National No 1 Lý Hoàng Nam and Thiên will play Yu Hsiang Chiu and Jumpei Yamasaki; Minh Huy and Lê Quốc Khánh will meet No 3 duo Shintaro Imai and Kento Takeuchi and Trịnh Linh Giang and Vũ Artem will face No 1 seed Jake Delaney and Farren Polkinghorne. — VNS
