Liêm helps Webster Uni to win chess championship

Captain Lê Quang Liêm led Webster University to win the Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship for the fourth time in a row on April 3 in New York.

HÀ NỘI — Captain Lê Quang Liêm led Webster University to win the Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship for the fourth time in a row on April 3 in New York.

In the final round, which is known as the Final Four of College Chess, Webster University defeated Texas Tech University, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Columbia University.

Texas Rio Grande Valley came second, followed by Texas Tech.

For his strong support of the team, Liêm was voted best player of the final round.

The Vietnamese player will join the national team at the Asian Chess Team Championships in the United Arab Emirates. Liêm will compete in the rapid and blitz events. -- VNS
