APEC Summit volunteers being picked

The central coastal city of Đà Nẵng has been selecting volunteers to serve the week-long APEC Economic Summit starting November 5, which is expected to bring together 21 heads of economies and some 4,000 officials and visitors.

ĐÀ NẴNG — The central coastal city of Đà Nẵng has been selecting volunteers to serve the week-long APEC Economic Summit starting November 5, which is expected to bring together 21 heads of economies and some 4,000 officials and visitors. 

The city received nearly 2,000 dossiers from applicants and selected nearly 900 candidates aged between 18 and 25 to interview. Some 260 qualified volunteers will be selected to help out at activities chaired by the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, 
They will be provided with training by the APEC National Committee in mid-October. 
Established in 1989, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum comprises 21 economies, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Việt Nam. — VNS
