HÀ NỘI – New cargo trains which reduce transportation time were put into operation this morning in Giáp Bát Station.

Nguyễn Văn Hoan, deputy general director of Hà Nội Railway Transport Joint Stock Company (Haraco), said the new 18-carriage trains will run from Giáp Bát Station in Hà Nội to Sóng Thần Station in southern Bình Dương Province and vice versa.

With a fixed route and no scheduled stops, the running time between Giáp Bát and Sóng Thần stations will be shortened to 51 hours instead of the 70-hour journey undertaken by common cargo trains.

Initially, there will be three train trips per week. The number of trips will increase by the end of this month, the company said.

The introduction of new trains is one of the efforts for the railway sector to regain market share in transportation by improving service quality, Hoan said at the launch ceremony.
