LÂM ĐỒNG — Three people went missing on Saturday while collecting durians on Đại Ninh hydropower reservoir in Đức Trọng District of Central Highlands Province of Lâm Đồng.

The boat they were on reportedly capsized.

Fire rescue and prevention forces and locals of Central Highlands Province of Lâm Đồng commenced a search and rescue operation with 17 boats yesterday morning.

Three men, identified as Nguyễn Văn Tuấn, 27; Nguyễn Văn Đạo, 44, both hailing from Lâm Đồng Province and Nguyễn Sanh Hướng from central Thừa Thiên-Huế Province, reportedly were not wearing life jackets when the accident occurred.

Lâm Đồng Province’s People’s Committee said that the local authorities would review waterway vehicles to better ensure traffic safety following the accident.

The same day, the bodies of four teenagers in Cao Lộc District of northern Lạng Sơn Province were discovered after they drowned in a local lake.

Local authorities provided VNĐ4.5 million (US$200) for each victim’s family. — VNS
