ĐÀ NẴNG —  Đà Nẵng hosted 230,000 tourists, of which 45,000 were foreign visitors, during a short vacation on the country’s Liberation Day (April 30) and May Day.

The city’s department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the largest groups of foreigners were Koreans, Japanese and Chinese.

The department also said 85 per cent of the 521 resorts and hotels (19,000 rooms) were booked over the long weekend.

The city also hosted a series of public performances to attract tourists during the summer holidays.

In addition, 8,000 visitors flocked to Chàm Island in the central Quảng Nam Province during the same time span.

Chàm Island, a world Biosphere Reserve recognised by UNESCO in 2009, hosts over 100,000 tourists, of which 10 per cent are foreigners, per year.

On Lý Sơn Island, 30km off the coast of Quảng Ngãi Province, over 2,000 tourists also paid visits.

The island district provided accommodations totalling 400 rooms in 20 hotels and 200 homestays, as well as local houses to host visitors. — VNS
