WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump announced Friday that a landmark summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could still take place on June 12 as originally planned, in the second about-face in as many days.

"It could even be the 12th. We’re talking to them now," Trump said at the White House. "They very much want to do it. We’d like to do it. We’ll see what happens."

A day earlier, Trump announced in a letter to Kim that he was calling off the summit in Singapore, blaming "open hostility" from the North. — AFP
