QUẢNG TRỊ — Two fishing vessels with 26 fishermen on board were successfully rescued by the border guard in the central province of Quảng Trị yesterday and today.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyễn Dũng, deputy head of the Cồn Cỏ Border Guard Station, said the station received news about a fishing vessel that was sinking at around 4pm yesterday.

After co-operating with the naval forces on Cồn Cỏ Island to determine the position of the vessel, a search and rescue team from the border guard managed to find and rescue 10 fishermen, who were using life jackets to stay afloat.

The vessel, with registered number plate QNg 92647, belongs to Lê Anh Vũ. Its floor was punctured while the fishermen were fishing, which made it sink.

The rescue team also managed to bring the vessel to the shore for repairs.

Also yesterday, a fishing vessel coded QNg 92265 TS, was stranded and damaged by the waves while travelling towards the Cửa Việt Port to avoid a storm.

The ship was rescued by Border Guard 208 and brought to the shore at 3am this morning.

The ship, belonging to Phan Văn Hẹ from Quảng Ngãi Province, had 16 people on board at the time of the incident. — VNS
