PHÚ YÊN — For his tireless work going above and beyond his daily routine, Ngô Việt Tú has been honoured as one the best young workers nationwide by the Central Youth Union.

Tú, 34, is deputy head of the Regulation Division under the Phú Yên Electricity Company.

Working at the company since 2012, Tú has always loved his job, is enthusiastic and responsible, while at the same time, trying to learn and improve his skills, find solutions to problems and come up with new initiatives.

Tú said that the knowledge he learned at university was the basics needed for his job and since then he has regularly studied more professional knowledge and many other specialised documents.

Overcoming initial difficulties when entering the electrical industry, he gradually became a highly-regarded engineer for the company.

Tú and his colleagues have implemented four initiatives approved by the Central Electricity Corporation as they help improve efficiency in production and business.

Tú said that the first initiative he and his research colleagues implemented was a solution to monitor transformer phase difference.

This is a solution that automatically calculates the unbalanced current of the operating modes to determine the phase difference and which phases are out of order.

The calculation is automatically obtained from data on the management programme.

This initiative has contributed to reducing power loss on the grid.

To build the initiative with practical application and high efficiency, Tú and his colleagues had to spend a lot of time researching and experimenting.

Applying his initiative, in the first 10 months of 2020, the power loss rate of the 110kV power grid in Phú Yên Province was 1.22 per cent, down 0.16 per cent compared to 2019, the profit amount is about VNĐ1.5 billion (US$63,800).

Tú and his colleagues also implemented other initiatives, such as a solution for warning messages about electricity connection loss to the supervisory control, automatic solutions to collect data on the telemetry system and telemetry management programmes to support phase balance plan and researching and building applications on smart devices for electricity operations.

In the process of implementing the initiative, they faced many difficulties because most of the initiatives were based on new software applications. Therefore, Tú and his colleagues needed to research a lot.

Huỳnh Quốc Long, director of the Phú Yên Electricity Company said that Tú was a young engineer with a good knowledge and a high spirit of learning.

Enthusiastic youth union member

As secretary of the Phú Yên Electricity Company Youth Union, Tú has led the youth union for many years.

Since 2012, the company youth union has carried out hundreds of projects to light up rural roads in the area, contributing to local socio-economic development.

Many programmes about taking care of people with meritorious services to the nation while programmes helping poor students and households in remote areas were also launched by him.

To juggle his job and youth union activities, Tú uses different digital applications.

He updates all of his work to his own management software and categorises tasks into different priority levels to get the work done done on time.

For Tú, the most important thing is to always build a spirit of enthusiasm and responsibility.

In the future, Tú intends to continue to research and explore initiatives and solutions to apply in the company’s production and business, especially in the areas that are facing difficulties.

He plans to research and study to improve his professional skills and apply information technology in his work.

In the youth union work, Tú will carry out projects ensuring social security in the province.
