CẦN THƠ – Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met with more than 200 voters representing businesses and workers in Bình Thủy District in Cần Thơ City.

Voters expressed their opinions and made suggestions on issues related to business development, job creation, sustainable employment, and the living standards of workers. They also gave solutions for developing housing and social security; and reflected on the shortcomings and difficulties in the implementation of laws related to the rights and interests of businesses, workers, and labourers.

Prime Minister Chính and leaders of ministries, sectors, and Cần Thơ City explained and listened to the opinions and suggestions of the voters.

At the conference, PM Chính spoke about the country's economic and social development. He said that despite many difficulties and challenges, the country continued to achieve the overall goals of macroeconomic stability, inflation control, growth promotion, and ensuring the large balances of the economy.

The economic and social situation in April continued to follow a positive trend. State budget investment capital in April reached VNĐ39.3 trillion and public investment disbursement in four months reached over VNĐ110.6 trillion, an increase of more than 16 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Newly registered FDI capital in four months increased by 65.2 per cent in terms of the number of projects and 11 per cent in terms of registered capital. In April, the trade surplus reached $1.51 billion, and the four-month trade surplus reached $6.35 billion.

The overall industrial production index increased again at 3.6 per cent higher than the previous month. The service and tourism sector continued to recover with 3.7 million international visitors to Việt Nam.

PM Chính also pointed out some difficulties and limitations, such as a decrease in GDP growth, a shrinking export market, financial markets with many risks, and low disbursement of public investment capital.

The rate of businesses leaving the market is increasing, and bond and real estate markets continue to face difficulties. The employment and livelihoods of people and businesses have not improved.

"These are the issues that the Government will make efforts to address and overcome. Difficulties must be resolved, and challenges must be overcome," he emphasised.

Chính said the Government will focus on the goal of stabilising the macroeconomy, controlling inflation, and ensuring major balances. It will also maintain political stability and social order and safety, promote production and business, create jobs and livelihoods for people, seek markets, diversify products, and alleviate difficulties for businesses using various tools such as tax reduction and exemption and extension of tax payment deadlines.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Government will direct efforts to remove institutional obstacles, strengthen administrative procedure reform, apply digital technology, and promote the implementation of Project 06 to enhance population management.

It will also promote three strategic breakthroughs, including institutional reform and improvement, human resource development, and infrastructure development.

It will also focus on three growth drivers, including consumption, exports, and investment; social welfare, including housing and cultural facilities for workers; and sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In reply to the opinions and suggestions of voters at the conference, Chính said these are very timely and practical issues, and proposed that relevant authorities continue to address them. The city’s NA deputies will compile and submit to relevant agencies issues that exceed their authority to resolve.

On this occasion, Chính presented gifts to 200 disadvantaged union members and workers in the city. – VNS
