BÌNH DƯƠNG — The People's Committee of Bình Dương Province yesterday held a ceremony to inaugurate the road and bridge project connecting Bình Dương–Tây Ninh with a total investment of more than VNĐ410 billion (US$ 16.7 million).

It is aimed to complete the transport network linking Bình Dương and Tây Ninh, serving the travel and freight needs of the people in two provinces and the whole region.

In 2018, leaders of the two provinces agreed on the investment and construction of roads and bridges to improve regional connections.

Bình Dương Provincial People's Committee then assigned the provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to act as the investor and organise the preparation of reports on the investment plan. 

The road and bridge work connecting Bình Dương and Tây Ninh has a length of 800.39m. The part leading to Bình Dương Province is 377.7m long, and the part of the road to Tây Ninh Province is 92.2m long.

The project is the first point of intersection with ĐT744 road in Quarter 6, Dầu Tiếng Town, Dầu Tiếng District. The endpoint of the work connects to the Đất Sét-Bến Củi road project.

"The road and bridge project connecting Bình Dương Province and Tây Ninh Province plays an essential role in economic development for Dầu Tiếng District, Bình Dương Province and Dương Minh Châu District, Tây Ninh Province," said Mai Hùng Dũng, Standing Member of the Bình Dương Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bình Dương Provincial People's Committee. "It helps to promote the circulation of goods between industrial zones in the two localities."

One part of the road and bridge project connecting Bình Dương and Tây Ninh is prestressed concrete. With a width of 25.5m, it is a six-lane bridge.

The road part was built with a design speed of 80km/h. The section of residential road under the bridge is designed with a speed of 20km/h. The pavement structure is made of hot-mix asphalt concrete.

The investors and the construction units have overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, making efforts to ensure progress and completion according to the plan.

Dương Văn Thắng, Vice Chairman of Tây Ninh Provincial People's Committee, said: "This project is expected to open up smooth traffic connections, creating an inter-regional connection axis in the region. It is hoped to expand connections to infrastructure hubs as national key transport infrastructures, such as Long Thành airport, North-South expressway, and international seaport system in the east of Hồ Chí Minh City". – VNS
