HCM CITY— The HCM City Department of Construction has proposed that the administration should provide VNĐ100 billion at low interest rates for people leasing out houses to workers to make upgrades and repairs to them.
According to the department, there are 60,470 houses with 202,973 rooms leased to poor workers.
A review by the building department found less than 5 per cent of the rooms meeting building norms in terms of height, width, floor, windows, etc.
The total cost of upgrading them is estimated at VNĐ761 billion.
The package is part of a plan to build and renovate one million new low-cost houses for poor workers and low-income people.
The department also wants waivers and cuts in house tax for people renting out to poor workers, and promises to prioritize and reduce the time taken to process their documents.
It wants the People's Committee to reduce electricity and water tariffs for tenants. VNS
