HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà praises Việt Nam-Russia relations as he welcomes his Russian counterpart Dmitry Chernyshenko to Hà Nội on Wednesday afternoon.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is also scheduled to begin his Việt Nam visit today at the invitation of Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, which deputy PM Hà believed will further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Việt Nam and Russia have been making efforts to implement the agreements made at the 24th meeting of their intergovernmental committee for economic, trade and scientific-technical cooperation in April last year, especially in diplomacy, trade, energy, education and training, science and technology, as well as culture, sports and tourism.
They have also been looking into solutions to mitigate challenges in new areas for cooperation. Vietnamese and Russian businesses have put forward numerous initiatives and recommendations to boost trade in both countries.
Expressing his gratitude towards his Vietnamese counterpart for the warm welcome, deputy PM Chernyshenko discussed specific measures to enhance trade and investment between the two countries’ businesses based on their strengths, such as oil and gas, energy, agricultural produce, pharmaceuticals, mechanical products and tourism.
The two leaders also agreed on practical projects and activities to promote their respective cultural values, education, people-to-people exchanges and local cooperation. — VNS
