HCM CITY — Talented composer Nguyễn Văn Chung and dozens of young singers will perform in a free concert at HCM City’s Bến Thành Theatre for children on Sunday.
The event, called Gia Đình Nhỏ- Hạnh Phúc To (Small Home- Big Family), is being organised by composer Chung and his agency Sư Tử Bạc Entertainment.
“My concert’s theme, Happy Family for Kids, was chosen to encourage people to offer better conditions for children,” said 36-year-old Chung, who has composed more than 100 children songs.
The young singers of the HCM City Cultural House for Children and art schools, such as Bảo An, Bào Ngư, Gia Khiêm and Thư Kỳ, will sing and dance to Vietnamese music, with featured works by Chung.
They will perform Chung’s popular works like Gia Đình Nhỏ Hạnh Phúc To, Bé Chơi Trung Thu (Children Play in Mid Autumn Festival) and Bàn Tay Của Cha (Father’s Hands).
Famous singers Nhật Tinh Anh, Khánh Ngọc and Don Nguyễn will also be featured.
More than 1,200 tickets have been delivered free to students at primary schools.
Chung began his career in 2003 after working with Nhạc Xanh Studio, one of HCM City’s leading private music agencies.
He has worked with pop stars Cẩm Ly, Khánh Phương, Cao Thái Sơn and Miu Lê, among others.
He has composed nearly 200 songs, including top hits such as Vầng Trăng Khóc (Tears of Moon), Chiếc Khăn Gió Ấm (Beautiful Scarf in Winter) and Chuyện Tình Dưới Mưa (Love in Rain)
In 2015, his pop song, Nhật Ký Của Mẹ (Mom’s Diary), was released on the CD The Best of Ballroom Music Vol. 36, produced by the German-based music company Casa Musica.
The song is the 10th work on the CD which features 45 works performed by popular artists and bands from different countries. It is performed by pop star Hiền Thục of HCM City.
According to Chung, his Nhật Ký Của Mẹ was discovered by a member of Casa Musica’s producing board, who first listened to the song at a Việt Nam and Germany cultural exchange.
Later the producer contacted Chung to sign a contract on releasing the song on their album.
The Best of Ballroom Music Vol. 36 was released worldwide by distributor Mailoder.
Many young listeners appreciate Chung’s creative ability to mix different musical styles. His music combines traditional and modern styles, using Vietnamese folk elements.
Chung also works as a music producer.
