As of 7am on Monday, a total of 1,423 households had been affected by relocation measures, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment.

Of these, 700 households evacuated both residents and property, while another 723 moved their belongings to safer locations.

Moderate rain, with heavy rain and thunderstorms in some areas, was forecast to continue across the province on August 24. Rain and thunderstorms, including moderate rainfall in some places, were expected on August 25 and 26.

The 700 evacuated households included 404 in Nam Dương Commune, 87 in Đèo Gia Commune, 70 in Lục Ngạn Commune, 60 in Kép Commune, 23 in Sơn Động Commune and 21 in Yên Định Commune.

Other evacuations took place in Ngọc Thiện, Tuấn Đạo, Bố Hạ, Bắc Lũng, Dương Hưu, Biển Động, Biên Sơn and Tây Yên Tử communes.

Among the 723 households that moved their property to safety, 330 were in Nam Dương Commune, 315 in Chũ Ward, 68 in Tiên Lục Commune and ten in Đông Phú Commune.

Thirteen pumping stations have been flooded, while 90 river and stream crossings have been submerged or overflowed. Authorities have also recorded 39 landslide sites along roads and 33 slope failures along national and provincial highways.

Amid the complicated flooding situation, Bắc Ninh authorities have ordered communes and wards to maintain round-the-clock duty and closely monitor rainfall and river levels.

Localities must inspect communities at risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides and be ready to evacuate residents when necessary.

Dyke and irrigation management units have been instructed to step up inspections, promptly address any incidents and ensure the safety of infrastructure.

Irrigation companies have also been told to operate pumping stations and clear waterways to improve drainage in flooded areas.

The province will continue deploying personnel, equipment and supplies under the “four on-the-spot” principle, with protecting residents’ lives and property the highest priority. VNS

No casualties have been reported, although many houses have been affected by the severe weather.
