VN student wins third prize at international piano contest

Trần Viết Bảo, a Vietnamese student studying at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, has won third prize in the under 25-year category at the Roma International Piano Competition.

HÀ NỘI – Trần Viết Bảo, a Vietnamese student studying at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, has won third prize in the under 25-year category at the Roma International Piano Competition.

Bảo, 23, received 85.2 points to share third prize with five other contestants, representing South Korea, Japan, Poland and Australia. Forty contestants from many countries and territories competed for the prize.

Setareh Tabatabai Shafii from Iran won first prize in the category, with 98.8 points.

Bảo is studying in a masters course at the Franz Liszt Academy. In 2010, Bảo won second prize at the International Piano contest in Việt Nam.

The Roma International Piano Competition includes categories for soloists under ages 19 and 25, and for four-handed duos and two-piano duos for those under age 34. – VNS
