HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam Coal and Mineral will meet HCM City in the final of the National Women’s Football Cup on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Việt Nam Coal and Mineral beat Hà Nội I Watabe 3-2 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in the semi-final of the event held at the Việt Nam Youth Football Training Centre in Hà Nội.
Hà Nội I Watabe's lineup included national teams members such as Phạm Hải Yến, Thanh Huyền and Thái Thị Thảo.
Coal and Mineral also called upon top international players such as Nguyễn Thị Vạn, Dương Thị Vân, Nguyễn Thị Trúc Hương and Hà Thị Nhài.
With the importance of the occasion, both teams played conservatively for the first 30 minutes, until goalkeeper Nguyễn Thi Loan of Hà Nội fouled Nguyễn Thị Thúy Hằng of Việt Nam Coal and Mineral in the penalty area. But captain Dương Thị Vân missed the spot-kick.
Eight minutes later, Biện Thị Hằng punished the miss and opened the scoring for the capital side.
After the break, the Việt Nam Coal and Mineral fought back and their efforts were paid off with a goal in the 61st-minute through Hà Thị Nhài.
The intense match entered the shootout after no more goals were scored in the remaining minutes of the second half.
In the penalty shootout, Coal and Mineral converted three penalties while Hà Nội only scored two.
In the other sem-final, HCM City beat Phong Phú Hà Nam 1-0 to reach the final. – VNS
