ĐỒNG NAI — Doctors from Long Khánh Town General Hospital successfully operated on and reconnected the left arm of a 22-year-old man after it was almost entirely cut off by a power saw.

Nguyễn Ngọc Tài, a resident of Bảo Quang Commune, Long Khánh Town, is now reportely in a stable condition. The accident took place last Thursday while he was using a power saw and nearly cut off his arm near the elbow. By the time he was rushed to the hospital, Tài had lost a lot of blood and suffered a stroke.

Doctors conducted an urgent surgery, connecting his bone, blood vessels and vein back to the arm. Dr Nguyễn Viết Thịnh from the hospital said that it was a serious work accident, and that the surgery was difficult because the cut was near the main artery. The connection must be done meticulously to ensure that the artery functions properly and the patient can move his hand afterwards, he said. — VNS
