THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — Police yesterday arrested a suspect in a robbery at a branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Việt Nam (BIDV) in Huế City earlier this month.
The suspect, Nguyễn Hoàng Tâm, 29, of the Central Highland province of Đắk Nông, was arrested in a market in Đà Nẵng City, colonel Đặng Ngọc Sơn, deputy head of the Huế City Police, confirmed.
The suspect is said to have admitted to police that he bought a motorbike from an online trader and rode it to the bank to carry out a robbery.
On December 7, a man was caught on surveillance cameras entering a BIDV branch on Mai Thúc Loan Street, pulling out a gun and ordering the cashier to hand over the money. He then made his escape on a motorbike with VNĐ 725 million (US$ 31,900).
