HCM CITY – The number of emergency cases due to traffic accidents during the just ended Lunar New Year holidays in HCM City nearly doubled from last year to 3,419.
During the seven-day period hospitals in the city totally received 87,660 patients, up by more than 50 per cent.
They included 275 people injured in fights, 54 in fireworks accidents and five by homemade weapons and explosives.
There were 62 deaths and 2,029 births.
There were no new COVID clusters in the community or new variants, according to the city Department of Health.
Chợ Rẫy Hospital said it received 1,990 emergency cases between January 20 to January 26.
Its doctors performed emergency surgeries for 257 patients. – VNS
