Ambassador presents credentials to Sri Lankan President

The diplomat said that Vietnamese leaders and people highly value the visit by President Wickremesinghe in 2017 as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, and hope to welcome more Sri Lankan leaders in the future.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Trịnh Thị Tâm has presented her credentials to Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe who expressed his hope that the ambassador will support his country to become an attractive destination for international trade, investment, and tourism.

The Sri Lankan leader briefed Tâm on achievements that his country has recorded after more than two years of overcoming economic crisis.

Ambassador Tâm conveyed regards from Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm and other high-ranking leaders of Việt Nam to President Wickremesinghe as well as other  Sri Lankan leaders and people.

She said that Việt Nam always follows and is delighted at the important achievements that Sri Lanka has gained recently in rising from economic crisis, and expressed his belief that Sri Lanka will successfully organise the upcoming presidency election.

The diplomat said that Vietnamese leaders and people highly value the visit by President Wickremesinghe in 2017 as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, and hope to welcome more Sri Lankan leaders in the future.

Tâm affirmed that Việt Nam always attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation with Sri Lanka. With a time-honoured relationship, the two sides boast high potential for stronger collaboration, especially in agriculture, fisheries, trade, culture, tourism, and Buddhism, heading to the 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2025.

She pledged to work hard to make contributions to strengthening the sound friendship between the two governments and peoples. — VNS
