HÀ NỘI — Multiple officials of Đắk Nông Provincial People’s Court will face disciplinary measures for wrongdoings, according to the conclusion of the 27th meeting of the Central Inspection Committee in Hà Nội on Wednesday.
Inspection results show that the Party Committee of the provincial People’s Court violated the principles of democratic centralism and working regulations, lacked responsibility and showed lax leadership in adjudication.
They have wrongly applied the laws on aggravating and mitigating factors in sentencing, granting suspended sentences and postponing the execution of prison sentences.
Multiple judgments and decisions have been cancelled or modified.
In particular, there were a number of innocent people convicted in unjust trials.
The violations have caused serious consequences and negatively impacted the reputation of the court and Party organisations among the public, and affected the province's fight against crime.
Ngô Đức Thọ, the chief justice and Party committee’s secretary of the Đắk Nông People’s Court is held accountable for the violations, alongside the 2015-20 tenure Party Committee of the provincial court.
They were given a warning and ordered to address their wrongdoings and reported to the Central Inspection Committee.
In the meeting, the committee also discussed and considered disciplinary measures for violating officials of Hải Phòng City and Đồng Nai, Hà Nam, Hòa Bình provinces for their involvement in corruption cases and violations of the State's laws and Party's regulations. — VNS
