HCM CITY — Authorities in HCM City’s District 4 want to set up a night market in Ward 12 and have sought permission for it from the city People’s Committee.

The 3,000sq.m night market will stretch from Khánh Hội Bridge to Calmette Bridge along the Tàu Hủ - Bến Nghế Canal.

It will be 300m long.

It will have more than 100 shops selling souvenirs, street foods and speciality goods besides cafes and famous restaurants.

It is likely to function from 4pm to 2am.

There will be places for parking, an art area, tourist services, product promotion, an information centre and community activities.

When the market is up and running, it will form a tourism ‘chain’ along with the Nguyễn Huệ walking street, Bitexco Tower, Nhà Rồng Wharf, and Cầu Móng historic architecture. — VNS
