Viettel Group, Architecture Magazine launch design contest for Viettel Thăng Long Building

Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) has cooperated with the Architecture Magazine of the Vietnam Association of Architects to organise a design contest for the Viettel Thăng Long building.

Located at Lot C6, Area C, Đại Mỗ Ward, Nam Từ Liêm District, Hà Nội City, with a total construction floor area 101,437 square metres, the Viettel Thăng Long Building will be the headquarters of major corporations under Viettel Group.

The contest is seeking the best design concept in both planning and architecture to be developed for the next step of the project. It aims to look for design concepts (planning and architecture) for Viettel Thăng Long Building on the basis of criteria: "Green – Smart – Creative towards an aesthetic, sustainable, environment-friendly and modern building, in compliance with the city planning, in harmony with the surrounding landscape in accordance with the new design standards of Việt Nam and the world, as well as being efficient in investment, operation and maintenance."

Located at Lot C6, Area C, Đại Mỗ Ward, Nam Từ Liêm District, Hà Nội City, with a total construction floor area 101,437 square metres, the Viettel Thăng Long Building will be the headquarters of major corporations under Viettel Group.

With total investment of over VNĐ3.39 trillion by Viettel Group, the construction which is a Grade I, Group A project, will have two basements and eight above ground floor with a gross floor area of approximately 100,000 square metres.

The organising board will select the best solution in accordance with the rules while ensuring equality, objectivity and transparency and in compliance with the current laws and regulations. The final outcomes of the design competition will be the basis to implement the next steps of the project.

The competition is open to domestic and international design consultants and organisations that are competent in design, and practising architecture in compliance with current regulations.

The competition includes two rounds:

In Round 1 (pre-qualification): The organising board will make an announcement nationwide about the competition and send letters to invite prestigious and experienced design consultants to participate in the competition. Consultants will register and submit their registration forms according to the instructions given in Article No. 7 in this Regulation.

Round 1 registration forms will be evaluated and a maximum of 10 outstanding participants with relevant experience and competence will be selected to take part in Round 2.

In Round 2 (competition): Shortlisted participants will go carry out their design concepts. The best ones shall be selected and ranked, according to the regulations of the competition adopted by the council. The final list of winners will be submitted and approved by the competent authority and the awards will be granted accordingly.

The contest is open to participants who meet the following requirements:

+ Organisations and individuals that have full legal status and competence for construction design activities (Grade I) according to the current law of Việt Nam;

+ Organisations and individuals who have experience in participating in competitions and in designing headquarters - office buildings (Grade I or higher). Chief architects or team leaders must have designed at least one Grade I building or higher;

+ For organisations: They must apply independent financial accounting; not be in the course of dissolution; not in bankruptcy or insolvent debt as prescribed by the current law;

+ For domestic consultants: They must have been granted the certificate of competence for construction consultancy of Grade I buildings;

+ For foreign consultants: They must comply with the provisions of Clause No. 1, Article No. 93 in Decree No. 15/2021/ND-CP on stipulating the conditions of competence applicable to Grade I consultants in construction design and verification.

The first prize winner will receive VNĐ1billion, while the second prize will receive VNĐ500 million from the organising board.

After the competition is announced, the Organising Committee will receive registration forms for the competition within 30 days. Once the registration for the competition has finished, the Organising Committee will conduct a pre-qualification assessment of the capacity of every consultant (Round 1) and will notify the results to participants selected to participate in Round 2.

Consultants intending to participate in the competition will have to register for their participation in Round 1 and attach the application (soft copy) online as instructed and required at the website: https://cuocthi.tckt.vn/dangkyviettelthanglong (the deadline for registrations will be announced in the media).

Short-listed consultants for Round 2 need to submit additional original registration documents (with signatures and stamps) together with the design documents. All these documents are put into 1 envelope “Pre-qualification document” to be sealed with an anonymous code on the envelope.

Consultants submit their design documents either in person or by express mail service according to the timeline announced by the organisation board.
