HÀ NỘI — No 4 seed Lý Hoàng Nam booked a berth in the second round of the Singapore F3 Men’s Futures after beating India’s Taha Kapadia 6-1, 6-2 today.

Now, Nam will meet another Indian rival Anirudh Chandrasekar, who won 6-4, 6-4 against Malaysia’s Christian Oliver Lee.

Vietnamese player Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên chose to retire from his singles match and focused on the doubles game, played later in the day. After being beaten 0-6 in the first set by India’s Manish Sureshkumar, Thiên called it quits and retired when it was 0-1 in the second set.

Hours later, in the doubles, Thiên and teammate Trịnh Linh Giang were defeated 6-4, 5-7, 9-11 by the host team’s Roy Hobbs and Hao Yuan Ng.

In the next round, the Singaporean pair will face No 1 seed Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Sanam Singh, who won 6-7 (6), 6-2, 10-6 against wild card entrants Lyu Chengze and David Nguyen, today. — VNS
