HCM CITY — To prepare for the 50th anniversary of the 1968 Tết Offensive and other events, HCM City authorities have banned vehicles from certain streets on January 26.
From 4am to 10am on that day the stretch of Lê Duẩn Street from Nam Kì Khởi Nghĩa to Pasteur streets will be off-limits to vehicles to also prepare for the 2018 Tết celebrations and 88th anniversary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam.
Vehicles going from Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa to Lê Duẩn can take alternative routes through Alexandre de Rhodes and Phạm Ngọc Thạch or Hàn Thuyên and Pasteur.
In the reverse direction, they can go through Pasteur and Alexandre de Rhodes or Công xã Paris and Hàn Thuyên.
The stretch of Nguyễn Du street between Nguyễn Trung Trực and Thủ Khoa Huân will also be closed off to prepare for the opening of a memorial tablet honouring soldiers who died in the Tết Offensive.
Vehicles going along the one-way Nguyễn Du Street can turn left into Nguyễn Trung Trực and take Lê Thánh Tôn, Trương Định, Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai and Huyền Trân Công Chúa to get back into Nguyễn Du. — VNS
