HÀ NỘI — A cold spell hit Hà Nội and northern Việt Nam yesterday, plunging temperatures by as much as 10 degrees.
 
The freezing conditons are expected to last for about a week.
 
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the average temperature in Red River Delta delta, including Hà Nội, will not rise above 10 to 12 degrees.
 
In mountain areas, temperatures will drop even further. Drizzle accompanying the cold change all over the northern region is likely to turn to ice in high places.
 
In Hà Nội, temperatures are not likely to rise above 10 or 12 degrees over the next two days. — VNS
