ĐIỆN BIÊN – The Điện Biên Province Border Guards announced on Thursday that they had busted an important case of drug trafficking.

Senior lieutenant colonel Lê Bá Long, head of the drug criminal prevention and control division under the provincial border guards, said that the guards caught two men in the act of transporting drugs from Laos to Việt Nam for sale on Wednesday.

The men were Lò Văn Vưn, 41, and Lò Văn Vừng, 21, from Laos’ Phongsaly Province.

The objects of evidence included nearly 700g of heroin and 4,000 tablets of ecstasy.

The two men admitted to the police that they had bought the drug in Laos and intended to sell it in Lào Cai and Lai Châu northern mountainous provinces.

Since March this year, the provincial border guards have been collecting information related to the heroin trafficking ring, and set up a plan to destroy it.

They are conducting further investigation into the case. – VNS
