HCM CITY— Three advertising hoardings promoting Việt Nam’s cinema and tourism industries will be put up at the 70th Cannes Film Festival in France from May 17 to 28.

Lý Nhã Kỳ, the actress and a former Tourism Ambassador of Việt Nam, told the media on Tuesday that she had sponsored them at a cost of more than one million euros (US$1.09 million).

The hoardings, 21 metres long and three metres wide, will be put up at strategic points to capture attention.

One of them will advertise the Vietnamese film industry with a photo of Sơn Đoòng Cave, the world’s largest, in Quảng Bình Province.

The other two will promote HCM City as an attractive, friendly and safe tourist destination.

Ngô Phương Lan, head of the Việt Nam Cinema Department, said the country would have a booth at the festival to introduce Vietnamese films as well as promote international co-operation and investment.

The department will organise an event called “Vietnam Night” on May 20 to showcase new Vietnamese films.

The HCM City Department of Tourism would organise several tourism promotion and marketing programmes at the event, Bùi Tá Hoàng Vũ, its director, said. —VNS
