HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam and Japan should promote connectivity between the two economies through stronger ties in investment, trade, Official Development Assistance (ODA) provision, agriculture and labour, said Party General Secretary, President Nguyễn Phú Trọng.
The two sides should also boost locality-to-locality links, step up human resources training and make connections between the countries’ development strategies, Party General Secretary, President Trọng said while receiving Special Envoy of the Japanese Prime Minister, Sonoura Kentaro, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, in Hà Nội yesterday.
At the meeting, Kentaro handed over a letter of congratulations from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Trọng on his election as President of Việt Nam.
In the letter, Japanese PM Abe expressed his belief that under the sound leadership of Trọng, Việt Nam will further prosper.
Japanese PM Abe also said he wished to continue working closely with Trọng to develop the extensive strategic partnership between Việt Nam and Japan.
Party General Secretary, President Trọng thanked Japanese King Akihito for offering his congratulations and PM Abe for sending a special envoy to deliver the letter.
He expressed his delight at the comprehensive development of the partnership between Việt Nam and Japan and affirmed Việt Nam attaches great important to relations with Japan.
He praised the co-operation and assistance of Japan for Việt Nam and proposed the two sides continue exchanges of visits of high-ranking delegations to increase mutual political trust.
For his part, Kentaro stressed Japan appreciated Việt Nam’s achievements during its national construction and development process as well as its contributions to regional and international issues.
He affirmed that Japan attached great important to the friendship with Việt Nam and would strive to further develop the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries. — VNS
