HCM CITY — Bangkok Airways launched its first direct flight from Bangkok to the resort island of Phú Quốc on Sunday, becoming the first airline to fly directly to the island from Thailand.

Flights are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and take about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Britain’s TUI Airways has also launched charter flights from Britain to Phú Quốc from November 1, while Italian leisure airline Neos has scheduled its first flight from Milan to Phú Quốc in December.
