SHB Đà Nẵng overcame Hoàng Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) 2-1 in the V.League yesterday at Hòa Xuân Stadium in the central city of Đà Nẵng.

HÀ NỘI — SHB Đà Nẵng overcame Hoàng Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) 2-1 in the V.League yesterday at Hòa Xuân Stadium in the central city of Đà Nẵng.

HAGL dominated the opening half of the the 14th-round match, and took an early through Trần Minh Vương in the 9th minute. 

It took SHB until the 60th minute to level matters through Argentinean-born striker Gaston Merlo, who won the Vietnamese Golden Ball – Best Foreign Player in 2012.

The goal sparked his team into life, and they duly took the lead through Hà Đức Chinh in the 80th minute from the penalty spot.

HAGL’s efforts in the final 10 minutes proved fruitless.

The result means HAGL stand in 19th with 17 points, while SHB Đà Nẵng are in 7th with 19 points.

Also yesterday, Sông Lam Nghệ An toppled Becamex Bình Dương 2-1 at at Gò Đậu Stadium in the southern province of Bình Dương Province, while Sanna Khánh Hòa drew with V-League champions Quảng Nam 2-2.

In other games, Hải Phòng defeated HCM City 2-0, Nam Định drew with Than Quảng Ninh 1-1, and Sài Gòn crushed Hà Nội 5-2. — VNS
