Young masters bring home medals from Asian championship

The Vietnamese team returned home from Uzbekistan’s Asian Youth Chess Championship with two gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.

HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese team returned home from Uzbekistan’s Asian Youth Chess Championship with two gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.

Among the successful masters, Phạm Trần Gia Phúc won his title in the U8 Open standard chess category with 7.5 points from nine matches. He then pocketed a bronze medal in the blitz chess discipline.

Nguyễn Quốc Hy won the U12 Open rapid chess category, earning six points from seven games. He also finished third in blitz chess

Việt Name’s junior masters also pocketed four silver and two bronze medals in blitz chess and three silvers in the rapid chess event. — VNS
