HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội FC continued to prove their strength after beating HCM City 3-1 in the fourth round of the V.League 1 at the Thống Nhất Stadium yesterday.
Hoàng Vũ Samson scored twice, while Phạm Thành Lương scored once for Hà Nội.
Since the first minute of the match, the hosts HCM City had the chance to open the scoring, after a cross from the left wing by striker Dyachenko Rodion Sergey, only for Nguyễn Trọng Phi to send his header to hit the bar after beating the goalkeeper.
In the 21th minute, Sergey’s shot in the penalty area hit a Hà Nội defender.
Finally, after receiving a pass from Nguyễn Quang Hải, midfielder Lương opened the scoring for Hà Nội in the 32nd minute.
Samson doubled the score on the 45th minute, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.
After the break, the hosts continuously attacked and narrowed the gap after Hoàng Phương scored with a volley in the 70th minute, to make the score 1-2.
In the 74th minute, Nguyễn Đại Đồng of Hà Nội received a yellow card after tackling one of the hosts’ players.
In the 80th minute, the striker Samson shot past goalkeeper Đinh Xuân Việt to increase the lead to 3-1.
The hosts tried their best in the final minutes, but they failed to score.
In another match, Hoàng Anh Gia Lai tied 1-1 with Sài Gòn FC.
“The whole team played well. My players created many chances to score goals, but they couldn’t take them. However, I am satisfied with this result,” said coach Nguyễn Quốc Tuấn from Hoàng Anh Gia Lai.
“Today, I selected Nguyễn Công Phượng to play in midfield, rather than his usual position as striker. He made many creative passes and played the match well,” Tuấn added.
Elsewhere, Sanna Khánh Hòa tied with Cần Thơ 2-2, while Quảng Nam crushed Quảng Ninh Coal 3-1, and SHB Đà Nẵng defeated Hải Phòng 2-0. — VNS
