THÁI NGUYÊN — Flash floods triggered by heavy rain killed two men in the northern province of Thái Nguyên on Friday night and early Saturday. Many major streets in Thái Nguyên City were flooded by 35-70cm of water.

Lightning also hit a chicken farm in the city’s Cao Ngạn Commune, killing 8,000 chickens.

On Friday evening, a rockslide at a quarry in Phú Nghiêm Commune in the Quan Hóa District in the central province of Thanh Hóa killed one person and injured another.

The landslide is thought to have been triggered by the men’s use of mines to destroy rocks. The body of the dead man was found on the Saturday morning. — VNS
