HCM CITY — Vietnamese-American martial arts star Cung Lê arrived in HCM City on Tuesday to play a role in the feature film The Target, a Hollywood production.

Lê is expected to begin his first scenes after attending a press conference in HCM City next week.

Hong Kong and American movie star Daniel Wu will also perform in the film.

Vietnamese actress and film producer Trương Ngọc Ánh, winner of the Golden Kite for Best Actress at the 2014 Golden Kite Awards presented by Việt Nam Cinematography Association, will play a leading role.

The Target will be shot in Việt Nam, Russia and the US.

Lê was born in 1972 and is a mixed martial artist and kickboxer. He competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

He began his movie career in 2009 after performing in the action movie Tekken, a production based on a game.

He performed with Hollywood stars Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster.

Lê played his first leading role in Dragon Eyes, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, and The Man with the Iron Fists with Russell Crowe, both action films released in 2012.

Last year, he played in Security, starring Antonio Banderas. His latest film, Europe Raiders, will be in cinemas later this year.
