HÀ NỘI – Noted composer Nguyễn Ánh 9 died yesterday from a respiratory disorder and other diseases after a three-week stay at a local hospital. He was 76.

Nguyễn Ánh 9 was born as Nguyễn Đình Ánh in the central province of Ninh Thuận in 1940. He moved to Sài Gòn (now HCM City) at 11 years old with his family. He started to compose music at 18 when he first accompanied famed singer Khánh Ly to perform in Japan.

His first song was titled Không (No). His next songs were warmly welcomed by music fans, including Ai Đưa Em Về (Who Will Take You Home), Lời Cuối Cho Em (Last Words to You) and Chia Phôi (Farewell).
