Hà NỘi – The 2016 Lục Ngạn - Bắc Giang Litchi Week in Hà Nội kicked off at the Big C Thăng Long Supermarket today. The event will run through June 30.
It was jointly organised by the Bắc Giang industry and trade department, Lục Ngạn District’s People’s Committee, Hà Nội industry and trade department, Big C Supermarket, and Hà Nội Trade Corporation (Hapro).
The event aims to get Bắc Giang Province farm produce to Hà Nội consumers more easily during 2016-20.
The litchis are displayed with packing labels showing origin information at 10 booths at the event. Prices run from VNĐ35,000 to VNĐ45,000 per kilogramme.
Bắc Giang litchi are cultivated in a concentrated litchi-growing area. VIET GAP and GlobalGAP cultivation standards apply, ensuring clean produce that meets food safety and hygiene requirements, according to Trần Quang Tấn, the director of the Bắc Giang industry and trade department, who spoke at the opening ceremony.
Nguyễn Thanh Hải, the deputy director of the Hà Nội industry and trade department, said the event created opportunities for litchi businesses to meet and seek partners to sign trade contracts and boost litchi consumption.
A litchi consumption signing ceremony between Lục Ngạn District’s People’s Committee and six supermarkets and wholesale markets in Hà Nội also took place at the event.
Guillaume Sénéclauze, the General Director of Big C Việt Nam, said Big C supports Vietnamese farm produce consumption and litchi consumption.
“We expect litchi consumption at Big C will increase by more than 30 per cent year-on-year in our supermarket chain this year”, the director said at the event.
Lục Ngạn litchis will also be sold at other Big C supermarkets, 17 stores of Hapro’s supermarket chain, and other convenience stores in Hà Nội.
Lục Ngạn litchis will be sold at Big C supermarkets nationwide starting on July 1. - VNS
