British billionaire Joe Lewis visits Hạ Long Bay

The British billionaire owner of English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur, Joe Lewis, arrived in Hạ Long Bay in his superyacht Aviva on May 16.

QUẢNG NINH — The British billionaire owner of English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur, Joe Lewis, arrived in Hạ Long Bay in his superyacht Aviva on May 16.

He was immediately impressed by the unique beauty of the bay and wanted to sail around it as soon as possible.

Vice chairman of the Quảng Ninh Province people’s committee, Đặng Huy Hậu, welcomed Lewis and spoke to him about the local landscapes and economic potential.

The Briton and the crew left Quảng Ninh on May 20.

During his stay, he visited the province’s most popular destinations and enjoyed its specialities.

Before arriving in Hạ Long, Lewis had visited Cần Thơ, Phú Quốc and Đà Nẵng and expressed his desire to invest in a modern cruise dock at Đà Nẵng’s Tiên Sa Port.

Forbes estimates Lewis’ net worth at US$5.1 billion. He is considered the sixth richest man in Britain and 38th richest in the world.

The 2016 Miss US Virgin, Carolyn Carter, who accompanied him, was attracted to the Hạ Long International Cruise Port’s unique design and architecture.
