Top legislators of Japan, Belarus congratulate newly-elected NA Chairman

The top legislators of Japan and Belarus have sent letters of congratulations to Trần Thanh Mẫn over his election as Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) at the 15th legislature's 7th sitting.

HÀ NỘI — The top legislators of Japan and Belarus have sent letters of congratulations to Trần Thanh Mẫn over his election as Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) at the 15th legislature's 7th sitting.

In his letter, President of the House of Councillors of Japan Otsuji Hidehisa expressed his hope that through promoting parliamentary exchanges between Japan and Việt Nam, the relationship between the two countries will grow stronger.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro emphasised that Japan has been building close relations and deepening its friendship with the Vietnamese NA through opportunities for cooperation between the two sides. Japan and Việt Nam celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in September 2023.

Fukushiro hoped that he and Man will make joint efforts to strengthen the relations and promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general and their legislative bodies in particular.

In her letter, Speaker of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova affirmed that over the past 30 years, Belarus and Việt Nam have actively cooperated bilaterally as well as at international forums on the basis of mutual understanding and constructive dialogue.

The two countries have enhanced mutual respect and trust, and achieved significant progress in developing bilateral trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations.

She believed that, with the support of Vietnamese NA Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, the connections between the legislative bodies of the two countries, including within the framework of inter-parliamentary organisations, will be strengthened and contribute to promoting effective bilateral cooperation for the benefit of their people. — VNS
