CLOSER TIES: Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm gives a policy speech at Columbia University as part of his trip to the US to attend the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79) in New York City. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee and State President Tô Lâm and a high-ranking delegation of Việt Nam attended the United Nations Summit of the Future, the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, and working sessions in New York, the United States, from September 22-25.

SETTING THE AGENDA: Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm meets with Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Achim Steiner and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in New York City,

President Lâm brought forward important messages in strong support of multilateralism, with the UN playing the central role in promoting global peace, cooperation, and development.

SPECIAL TIES: General Secretary Tô Lâm met with US President Joseph R. Biden in New York on September 25. The two leaders underscored a joint commitment to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and expressed enthusiasm for bringing momentum into its second year.
STRONG BONDS: Việt Nam's President Tô Lâm meets with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the UN Headquarters in New York, US. During his stay in New York, President Lâm took part in some 40 important functions, spreading the message of a peace-loving Việt Nam, focusing on sustainable development and looking to the future. Among them, the highlight is the leader's speaking and conveying Việt Nam's message to the world at the Future Summit and the UNGA 79's High-Level General Debate.

NATURAL WARMTH: Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm (right) meets the Prime Minister of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, on the sidelines of the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. They evaluated positive progress in relations between Việt Nam and the Vatican.

President Lâm also held bilateral meetings with leaders of a number of countries, including India, Ukraine, and the United States, and received leaders of the United Nations and some of its agencies and investment funds.

ENGAGED: Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm participates in a business forum and receives US business leaders from Apple Corporation, Meta Group, Supermicro, Blackstone Investment Fund, Warburg Pincus Investment Fund and Google Corporation during the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.

He attended and delivered remarks at events towards the 30th anniversary of Việt Nam-US diplomatic relations, and the first anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and had other meetings with the participation of US officials, businesspeople, experts, and academics.

PARTNERSHIP: Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm witnesses a cooperation agreement signing ceremony in AI, semiconductors and a data centre construction in Việt Nam between Sovico Group and Supermicro Group.

President Lâm also took time to meet Vietnamese intellectuals in the US, representatives of members of the Vietnam Innovation Network, and American experts and scholars interested in Việt Nam.


FULSOME PRAISE: General Secretary and President Tô Lâm meets World Bank President Ajay Banga. At the meeting, Banga said that Việt Nam is one of the most important partners of the WB.
MEET AND GREET: Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm receives General Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva. He expresses his appreciation of IMF's role in monitoring the macroeconomic stability and advising countries in developing policies in many fields.

Many Vietnamese and American businesses also signed cooperation agreements in his presence. VNS
